Frequently asked questions.
What compliance and IT teams in regulated industries ask before they retire hardware with Coretek 360.
Do you work with regulated industries?
Yes. Coretek 360 retires hardware for healthcare, financial services, insurance, law firms, government, education, and other regulated organizations. Every engagement follows the same process: documented chain of custody, sanitization to NIST 800-88 or shredding, and a certificate of data destruction per serial number. Wiping, test and repair, and downstream recycling run under our R2v3 and RIOS certifications, with HIPAA compliant handling throughout.
How do you handle devices that held patient data?
Devices that held PHI are wiped to NIST 800-88 and verified, or shredded, the sanitization method HHS guidance references for the HIPAA Security Rule's disposal standard. Your privacy officer receives a certificate of data destruction for every serial number and a final report, and Coretek 360 handles the media under HIPAA compliant procedures.
What documentation do law firms receive?
A certificate of destruction for every drive, a chain of custody record for every handoff, and a serialized final report. That file supports your Model Rule 1.6 duty to protect client information and answers outside counsel questions about retired devices. On site shredding is available for drives that must not leave the office. We do it in house. It is not yet covered by our R2v3 certificate, and we are working to add it.
Can you work around the school calendar and FERPA?
Yes. Pickups and device refreshes are scheduled around the school year, so classrooms are not left without equipment, and staging and imaging can be planned before the first day. Devices that held student education records are wiped to NIST 800-88 or shredded, with a certificate per serial your district can file for FERPA records.
Do you serve government agencies?
Yes. Agencies, municipalities, and public authorities receive media sanitization to NIST 800-88, the guideline NIST 800-53 media protection controls and the CJIS Security Policy point to, and a final report that reconciles every asset to property records by serial number. Certificates of destruction accompany each drive for your records officer and auditor.
Can you retire hardware across many sites?
Yes. Offices, branches, plants, stores, and data centers can be retired under one schedule and one point of contact, with scheduled pickups in tracked vehicles and palletized removal where volumes call for it. One serialized report covers every site, so IT, finance, and compliance work from the same record.
Do you handle data center and network hardware?
Yes. We decommission at the rack level, cable out and palletize servers, storage, and switches, and sanitize every drive to NIST 800-88 or shred it on site or at our facility. Custody is documented from your floor to ours, with a certificate of destruction per serial for your customers and auditors.
What if my industry is not listed?
The same process applies to any organization: scheduled pickup under chain of custody, data destruction to NIST 800-88 or shredding, and a final report with a certificate per serial number. Working hardware is tested and resold, and the rest is recycled through R2v3 certified downstream processors. Tell us what you are retiring and which regulation you answer to, and we will plan around it.
